The syndrome includes itching and swelling of the lips, palate and tongue, usually after consuming fresh fruits and vegetables. The underlying pathogenic mechanism is cross-reactivity between IgE antibodies specific to pollen, and antigens in food, such as fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts that are structurally similar to pollen. Both pollen and food antigens can bind to IgE and trigger type I immune reaction. Diagnosis is primarily based on the patient's history, and confirmed by skin tests, in vitro tests, and oral provocation tests. Differential diagnoses include many diseases (such as burning mouth syndrome, angioedema, hay fever, various other oral diseases, etc.), and for this reason a multidisciplinary approach is necessary, as different specialists need to be involved in the diagnostic procedure. Therapy includes avoiding, or thermal processing of, fruit and vegetables known to trigger a reaction, and antihistamine medications. If a more severe anaphylactic reaction develops, more aggressive therapy is required. The goal of this article is to present OAS, its etiopathogenesis, clinical picture, and symptoms, diagnostic approach and therapy for OAS</style>
<notes><style face="normal" font="Arial">DA - 20140828IS - 0353-9466 (Print)IS - 0353-9466 (Linking)LA - engPT - Journal ArticleSB - IMCO - Croatia -</style></notes><work-type><style face="normal" font="Arial">NO-DOI</style></work-type><urls><web-urls><url has-ut="yes" ppv-app="PM" ppv-ref="yes" ppv-ut="25163237">PM:25163237</url></web-urls><pdf-urls><url ppv-ref="no">C:\A&amp;H HMW Papers\Acta Clin Croat\2014-53-210-9.pdf</url></pdf-urls><text-urls><url ppv-ref="no">F:\A&amp;H HMW Papers\Acta Clin Croat\2014-53-210-9.pdf</url></text-urls></urls><custom2><style face="normal" font="Arial">20140828, Kelava N</style></custom2><misc3><style face="normal" font="Arial">NO-DOI</style></misc3></record><record><database name="HMW 2 Allergens" path="D:\Bibliografia Generale\HMW 2 Allergens">HMW 2 Allergens</database><source-app name="Reference Manager 11.0" version="11.0.1.1709">Reference Manager 11.0</source-app><rec-number>85562</rec-number><ref-type name="Journal">17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="Arial">Frazier,A.</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="Arial"> Schulten,V.</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="Arial"> Hinz,D.</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="Arial"> Oseroff,C.</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="Arial"> Sidney,J.</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="Arial"> Peters,B.</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="Arial"> Sette,A.</style></author></authors></contributors><auth-address><style face="normal" font="Arial">La Jolla Institute for Allergy &amp; In a majority of cases, responses focused on a few immunodominant epitopes which can be predicted on the basis of MHC binding characteristics. Several observations from our studies challenged the assumption that T cell epitopes are derived from the same allergen proteins that bind IgE. Transcriptomic and proteomics analysis identified pollen proteins, not bound by IgE. These novel Timothy Grass proteins elicited vigorous Th2 responses, suggesting that unlinked T cell help is operational in pollen-specific responses. Thus, the repertoire of antigens recognized by T cells is much broader than IgE-binding allergens. Additionally, we evaluated the use of epitopes from these novel antigens to assess immunological changes associated with Specific Immunotherapy (SIT). We found that a marked decrease in IL5 production is associated with clinically efficacious SIT, suggesting that these novel antigens are potential immunomarkers for SIT efficacy</style>
<notes><style face="normal" font="Arial">DA - 20141029IS - 1939-4551 (Electronic)IS - 1939-4551 (Linking)LA - engPT - Journal ArticlePT - ReviewCO - United States -</style></notes><work-type><style face="normal" font="Arial">10.1186/1939-4551-7-26</style></work-type><urls><web-urls><url has-ut="yes" ppv-app="PM" ppv-ref="yes" ppv-ut="25352946">PM:25352946</url></web-urls><pdf-urls><url ppv-ref="no">C:\A&amp;H HMW Papers\World Allergy Organ J\2014-7-26.pdf</url></pdf-urls><text-urls><url ppv-ref="no">F:\A&amp;H HMW Papers\World Allergy Organ J\2014-7-26.pdf</url></text-urls></urls><custom2><style face="normal" font="Arial">20141029, Frazier A</style></custom2><misc3><style face="normal" font="Arial">10.1186/1939-4551-7-26</style></misc3></record><record><database name="HMW 2 Allergens" path="D:\Bibliografia Generale\HMW 2 Allergens">HMW 2 Allergens</database><source-app name="Reference Manager 11.0" version="11.0.1.1709">Reference Manager 11.0</source-app><rec-number>85567</rec-number><ref-type name="Journal">17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="Arial">Xue,L.</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="Arial"> Fiscella,M.</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="Arial"> Rajadhyaksha,M.</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="Arial"> Goyal,J.</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="Arial"> Holland,C.</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="Arial"> Gorovits,B.</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="Arial"> Morimoto,A.</style></author></authors></contributors><auth-address><style face="normal" font="Arial">Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics &amp; Pre-existing antibodies, i.e., biotherapeutic-reactive antibodies present in samples from treatment-naive subjects, have been commonly observed during immunogenicity assessments; however their relevance in terms of the safety and efficacy of a biotherapeutic is poorly understood. An American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists-sponsored survey was conducted to gather information about the prevalence, nature, and consequences of pre-existing antibodies in clinical and nonclinical studies. The survey results indicate that pre-existing antibodies against a variety of biotherapeutics (e.g., mAbs, fusion proteins) are frequently encountered, especially in the context of autoimmune diseases, but that the methods and approaches used to detect, characterize, and report these antibodies vary. In most cases, pre-existing antibodies did not appear to have clinical consequences; however, a few of the respondents reported having observed an effect on pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, safety, and/or efficacy parameters. The findings from this survey are an important first step in evaluating the potential risks associated with the presence of pre-existing antibodies and highlight the importance of standardizing the approaches for detection and characterization of these antibodies. Cross-industry sharing of case studies and relevant data collection will help better inform biotherapeutic risk/benefit profiles and provide deeper understanding of the biological consequences of pre-existing antibodies</style>
<notes><style face="normal" font="Arial">DA - 20130626IS - 1550-7416 (Electronic)IS - 1550-7416 (Linking)LA - engPT - Journal ArticleRN - 0 (Antibodies)RN - 0 (Biological Factors)SB - IMCO - United States -</style></notes><work-type><style face="normal" font="Arial">10.1208/s12248-013-9492-4</style></work-type><urls><web-urls><url has-ut="yes" ppv-app="PM" ppv-ref="yes" ppv-ut="23620231">PM:23620231</url></web-urls><pdf-urls><url ppv-ref="no">C:\A&amp;H HMW Papers\AAPS J\2013-15-852-5.pdf</url></pdf-urls><text-urls><url ppv-ref="no">F:\A&amp;H HMW Papers\AAPS J\2013-15-852-5.pdf</url></text-urls></urls><custom1><style face="normal" font="Arial">3D</style></custom1><custom2><style face="normal" font="Arial">20130626, Xue L</style></custom2><misc3><style face="normal" font="Arial">10.1208/s12248-013-9492-4</style></misc3></record></records></xml>
